We the people call on you the city council to obey the laws of the United
States of America and actively work to find and deport "illegal aliens" and
"undocumented workers". And to stop spending our money to support and
harbor any one who breaks the laws of the land.

abuse of Tax-Payer Funds. I can not believe that even Portland will
countenance such disloyalty and disrespect for the rule of law.
It makes me wonder if the leadership in Portland even know what the laws of
this country are! Sad commentary on our local governments.

I left a good job in the City! Working for the Man!
I left Northern California 3 weeks ago because I was tired of seeing 50-55% of my income being paid to the state and federal government and my services decreasing. I moved to Oregon, immediately lowering my sales tax, my property tax, and now that I am unemployed I am going to see how life on the government dole is! (kidding). I figure at least I can control my outflow, and because of economics the demographics has far fewer illegal non-American citizens living here. For all you dismissive, pandering, thoughtless "progressives" stop already with the racism or the xenophobic thoughts. I love immigrants that come to the country and add value. LOVE. Indians with engineering degrees, Iranians with MDs, Chinese with PhD's - please come! Marry my daughters! Unskilled labor with huge families? No thanks.
I wrote my local government in Los Altos/Mountain View about spending dollars for the "day workers". I was adamantly opposed to it and no one would listen. I refuse to hire non-Americans (come on, they are not illegal immigrants, they are squatters who have illegally occupied positions that would outrage any Union shop. The quasi socialist state that we have become will not tolerate this underground system. We need to employ American citizens. Jobs that Americans won't do? I will stick my head in a pail of poo for the right price!) Hence, lets call them what they are - non-Americans.
I am writing you, because you asked me to yesterday during your show. In California, our dropout rate in our high schools is 25%. It is almost all due to fantastic Latino occupancy of our schools and their ridiculous dropout rate. I can only hope that Oregonians will "go to school" on my experience and the Californian experience. Stop with the dismissive name calling - racist! Xenophobe! and put pencil to paper. The folks that think we should encourage the mass migration of unskilled labor and all of their children to the United States are deluded. I am not casting an insult, the data bears out the delusion. America will not become stronger by encouraging mass migration of unskilled labor and their families. My experience, not my hyperbole-soaked theory, witnessed the following:
My taxes became oppressive, while my schools and emergency rooms became intolerable. The insult to this injury is that in order to avoid the tragedy of the public school, you had to go private. Where we lived the going rate was $22,000 to $30,000 a year and rising at high single digits. I figured in 6 years my three kids would be each $50,000 a year. My property taxes were $25,000 a year for my very average home. That means, in 6 years, I would have to make $330,000 gross income just so my kids could go to junior high (the government gets paid first, folks). This is nucking futz! Last year, my two year old was being a monkey on the bed and bumped her head. It was a huge knot so we took her to ER at 9 pm to get her melon checked out. We waded through a sea of folks, none with any apparent breaks or bleeding, most with dark skin, black hair and construction boots and congestion. Now, I went to ER once for help with bronchitis because I could hardly swallow at 3 am and I got some anti-biotics that set me back $640 after insurance! These folks not only get the medical treatment for free (it will cost ER $50,000 penalty if they refuse treatment) but they also block health care for legitimate emergencies. If they want to pay the crazy price of ER, let it rip, but not for free!
Our schools in upper middle class Los Altos became over-ran with sudden ELL (English Language Learners) and the school district did everything in their power to obfuscate the truth and told the tax payers that we they were going to have to move their kids to different schools to re balance these ELL's (hmmmm, maybe ELL stands for Educating Lotsa Latinos!) Can you imagine? You pay more than TWO THOUSAND a month in property tax, of which 56% goes directly to the school, and the government tells you, "Thanks, but you can't go to the school next to the home you just bought. You need to drive your kid 4 miles to this other school." Oh, and by the way, we want you to donate more after tax dollars to the public schools.
And California is increasing both its sales and income tax 10%. Fewer services, more taxes.
Seriously folks, it is not worth getting your food served, your lawn cut, or your nails hammered for a 20 or even 50% reduction in wages. This is not sustainable. Do the net present value of my above scenario and it is non-trivial. $250,000 a year for 6 years is a net present value of a couple million dollars! For your grass or your food!! This is insane. This is the road to Hell. I was just driving on it and I can assure you that you do not want to get on it.
I am pleading with the Oregon authorities. You have knowledge of the California experience. With that knowledge comes responsibility. If you witness California and know why they are failing and you choose to follow the same path, the citizens should impeach you on grounds of gross incompetent recklessness. We have been forewarned. Dig in your heels folks.
By the way, I am not a Californian. I am an Oregonian, born in Oregon, educated by both Oregon secondary schools and Universities. Oregon needs to try very hard to not become California. I have been to the front, and as a scout, I am pleading to the citizens of Oregon to demand more from their leaders.

I'm getting extremely tired of hearing about the City Counsel and all the "great" ideas that time is being spent on instead of dealing with the basic needs of this city. That includes renaming streets, by the way. The Counsel is trying so hard to be creative and innovative and guess what? That is not what the citizens of Portland want. We want the city run in an effective, fiscally sound way. So please, stop doing things behind closed doors without citizen input, when it is called for.
Who am I? A life long Portlander with web feet and a lot of voting years left.

Victoria—I’ve been listening to you for quite a while now, and even though I don’t live in Portland, I know that what happens in Portland will soon come across the bridge to Vancouver.
I originally lived in the Yakima Valley and owned and operated orchards and vineyards with my husband. So I am well acquainted with the illegal alien issue. For many years, we had Mexican people working for us. Most of them were legally here, but occasionally I would find one that had bogus papers. I found out that these papers were being ‘made up’ in a small town north and east of Yakima and cost each individual about $35 (about 10 to 15 years ago).
My point is this. Once an illegal alien is in this country, it’s almost impossible to get them to go back to their country. That’s why I support a ‘guest worker program’. If an employer needs 20 workers to get the job done, then that employer should sponsor 20 workers for a certain period of time. When the job is done, they should be sent back home. I know this has been tried before. Since the federal government wants to get so involved, we could have ID Chips inserted in each guest worker. It should be inserted in the area that Mexican males seem to be most ‘proud of’ (near the ‘jewels’) and the chances of them being removed without medical attention would be limited. (who wants to dig around their own jewels?)
When the individual tries to sneak across the border back to the US, then that chip would send off a signal, and guess what? Back home you go, buddy!
One more comment. Why the heck do we need so many ‘foreigners’ to do the job that Americans citizens should and could be doing? I know how to hoe between the pepper plants, and I could teach others to do it in no time at all. Think of the suntan and fresh air we could get. And most of us could stand a little bending and squatting around our middles.

I am sick and tired of hearing about Americans being killed by illegal aliens and our lovely city adding to the outrage.
The mother of seven being killed on MOTHER'S DAY was tragic. Seven children and a husband who will never have their mother and wife to experience their children's firsts - dates, proms, wedding and birth of grandchildren. The wife in San Fran who's husband and two sons were murdered by illegals in June. The father of two in Florida, last week killed by an illegal immigrate in front of his daughter at the Post Office. The list goes on and on and on and on and on. Every week I hear about a new travesty and YOU can do something to make a difference.
I am upset that you have made Portland a haven for illegals and the Day Labor site you opened is illegal. You are breaking the law !!!!
Illegals have personally and literally hit home. In January our son was driving home after visiting us late one evening. As he crossed the 205 on Glisan -east bound- he was hit by an illegal alien coming off the freeway full speed, running the light and caused over $8,000 worth of damage to his 2 month old car. We were fortunate he was not injured and there were 3 witnesses. The man was an uninsured motorist, spoke no English and the car was registered in Mexico. He was here illegally and our insurance company is having to absorb the costs as they try and recoup the money. GOOD LUCK !!! We are out our deductible and time dealing with the insurance company and repair shop.
I listen to Victoria Taft and KPAM among others. I am getting tired of Portland's City Counsel and the ways you break the law.
I am writing to let you know how my husband and I are tired of your illegal ways.

- Why is the city:
- Subsidizing criminal activity with taxpayer funds
- Encouraging and inducing illegal aliens to come to, enter, or reside in the US
- Acting in reckless disregard that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of US law
- Facilitating or aiding and abetting the illegal employment of undocumented aliens
- Unlawfully allowing the hiring of individuals for employment without complying with federal employment eligibility verification requirements
- Acting in defiance of state employment requirements
- Giving government preference to companies or individuals that hire illegal aliens and others at the government day labor center and allowing them to ignore the law

First let me start with how mad it makes me to know that we work so hard to get ahead in life and take care of our family, and that the city of Portland and the people who say they think in our best interest are selling us out to illegal actions as this day labor center. Let me also state that I am a American Mexican and do have family that are from Mexico. But thankfully did do the right thing and became legal before they made their stay here in the states. I also have family here who are here illegally and to this day still give them a hard time and no respect from me for being here.
I am stating right now and will till the day you stop this illegal act in which I am paying for with my tax money.
STOP AND CLOSE DOWN THIS CENTER FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NO RIGHT TO WORK HERE, WHY GIVE THEM A HAND OUT WHEN THE MAJORITY OF THEM HAVE NO REGARDS FOR OUR COUNTRY AND LAWS, BY YOU LETTING THIS HAPPEN IS GIVING THEM THE OK ON BE HERE IN AMERICA AND CRAPPING ON US WHEN EVER THEY WANT. STOP THIS ILLEGAL DOING AND DO WHAT IT RIGHT AND BECOME TRUE AMERICANS AND HELP OUR OWN. THEN MAYBE I CAN SAY YOU ARE DOING YOUR JOB EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE A BUNCH OF LEFT WINGED MULE HERDERS.
Respectfully a true Republican American

How many more citizens of this city, county and state must die at the hands of people here ILLEGALLY? In the news again today yet another illegal alien was found guilty of KILLING a mother of seven. Leonel Zurita-Loeza, 26. We must also remember Dani Countryman a 15 year old girl murdered by ILLEGAL aliens Alejandro Emeterio Rivera-Gamboa and his cousin, Gilberto Javier Arellano-Gamboa. The list gets longer each day. You are aiding and abetting just this type of action with your ILLEGAL DAY LABOR CENTER! STOP BREAKING THE LAW! You have sworn to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States of America.
Thank You

No man or government entity is above the laws of the land. It is time to hold the City of Portland and its leadership accountable for their illegal actions of establishing the Day Labor Center against the will of the people.
I am sick and tire of their arrogance and they need to face criminal charges for their actions as any other citizen would be held too.

Victoria,
I am not a City of Portland resident, but I’d like to contribute my voice to this blatant disregard for state and federal law, blatant disregard for the will of the citizenry of the city, and blatant disregard for appropriate use of tax payer monies that is this work center for illegal aliens.
I live in Washington Co. but I worked Downtown for 10.5 years, so I’ve spent my time in the city. City of Portland is a beautiful city with many wonderful attributes, but the so-called “leadership” of Portland City Council is such an atrocious detriment to the city. If Portland is the nose, then Portland City Council is the big, honkin’ zit on it that makes you just stare in horror and disbelief. The mayor and other council members are insidious and utterly self-serving. In other times, they would have long ago been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail…
For the Portland City Council to say or infer that the work center is not specifically designed to give work to illegal aliens is an example of how much disdain and disregard they have for the citizens of Portland and the Metro Area.
How reprobates like Mayor Tom Potter, Mayor-elect Sam Adams, Council Members Randy Leonard and Dan Salzman, and previous Council Member Eric Sten could ever get elected shows how completely oblivious liberals are…and what total lemmings they tend to be.
Portland City Council is running it’s own Tammany Hall, and every single one of those council members should be brought up on charges under the Rico Statutes or any other means regarding their complete disregard for state and federal laws.

As the degradation of our laws, our language, our culture and our way of life are on full display in the city of Portland, I can only scratch my head and ponder how long it will be before chaos reigns in the rose city. Ah....yes....where right is wrong and wrong is right. Where law abiding, hard working Americans are run out of town on a rail, it only make sense that illegal aliens can flaunt their illegalness and be embraced by the likes of Comrade Potter, Comrade Adams and Comrade Randy. As the goose-stepping comrades of the left ponder and puzzle to themselves the rightness of our laws and decide which laws they feel like enforcing and which laws they wish to ignore. As they decide what foods we should be allowed to eat or what cars we can drive, or how much labor they can steal from hard working Americans, I am reminded of a line from Batman Begins.... "Gotham, the city of injustice" can easily be replaced by "Portland, the city of injustice".
The comrades from the city of injustice only know how to tear down and destroy that to which they wouldn't have a clue how to build. I believe these people to be the robber barons of today as they prey on their fellow citizens. While probably the most incompetent people in the world, they are also the most dangerous because they are more than willing to steal the freedom and liberty from the people of Portland in the wink of an eye, at the drop of a hat or a beat of the heart.
When our laws don’t apply to all of the people all of the time.....ultimately, they will apply to none of the people.
Great minds and great men who believed in freedom and liberty created this country. Small minds and small men are tearing it down.

Why would a Day labor site for illegals not work? Here are some examples.
1) Its run by the city. Any governmental backed project would make they illegals ignore it for the mere fact that the people running the facility might find out they are here illegally and have them deported!
2) The location is fine, but the illegals rarely reside near there. Instead, they reside with other family members that are anywhere from Hillsboro and Woodburn, to No Po.
3) With the DMV finally getting smart about not issuing licenses to illegals, they have to either carpool, usually six or more mexicans crammed in a sedan, sans seatbelts of course, no insurance and now no license. The glorious Tri-met runs by the Day labor site, but how do the illegals know the bus routes when the bus signs are not written in spanish? Bummer dude! Bicycles? Forget it. When have you seen illegals ride in a critical mass ride anyway?
So in conclusion, Keep up the good work Portland. Your schools keep closing, but continue to beg for more money, Businesses are either leaving or not wanting to operate in your tax hungry town, and now the Illegals who you give handouts to left and right, refuse to use your happy little job center you created for them.
Again... Thank GOD I moved away from Portland!

From Greg:
I’d like to counted as one who supports legal immigration and favors returning illegals to country of origin. To spend taxpayer money supporting illegal activity should not go unpunished. Where is the US Attorney? These jobs are trade jobs that citizens and legal immigrants can do and Portland is paying for the illegals to access those jobs. Ridiculous and maddening.
