Day Labor Center: Still a Dud

The Portland Tribune has done a story here on the soon to be 6 month "anniversary" of that assault on reason and the law called the Day Labor Center. We call it the Portland Illegal Alien Kollection Operation (PINKO) Dentention Center. Heck, look at the picture, the only thing this place is missing is the concertina wire.
Nut 'grafs from Jennifer Anderson's piece:
Back in June and July, the center attracted about 70 to 80 workers each morning and found employment for about 25 to 30 of them, organizers said. Now, about the same number of workers show up but only 15 to 20 of them get hired each day.
But the operators of the facility, the Rainbow City Council's proxy, Voz, has a ready answer to that: The slow economy. Apparently Ignacio Paramo believes this slow economy is the reason people don't want to hire illegal aliens at a cut rate wage. It couldn't be that it's illegal or anything:
The lackluster numbers are not a fault of the center itself, but a combination of the slow winter months, the sinking economy and the fact that day labor centers need more time to establish themselves in any community, said Ignacio Paramo, director of Voz Workers’ Rights Education Project, the nonprofit hired by the city to run the center.
And all he needs? More money for advertising:
"We need constant advertising."
Any suggestions for what their advertising should say?

Of course this was sold by Mayor Moonbeam and the Rainbow City Council as the way to help out businesses which were being overrun by illegal aliens on a daily basis and scaring the customers.

Dick Wentworth, who's Wentworth Chevrolet dealership backed up against 6th and Ankeny/Burnside where dozens of illegals congregated every day, offered up a lot he was leasing up the street (NE Everett and MLK) to establish the illegal alien day labor center. His customers are STILL scared by the dozens more illegal aliens who congregate there every morning. Good going, Dick, you actually believed the city's promises? What were you thinking? Did you honestly believe that a city unwilling to bust people for being here illegally, which then opened a center celebrating their illegal status to set them up with employers who illegally hire them, would come back and clean out the guys hanging around your place? In your dreams.

Mayor Moonbeam was accused of defying federal law to which he said sometimes you have to enforce the law with your heart and not your head.
That explains everything.
Meantime, Portland taxpayers, who are seeing higher taxes and fewer jobs, watch while the city siphons their tax dollars to attract people who have come here illegally, 'jacked someone else's ID and stolen social security numbers. Don't we bust people for identity theft anymore?
Ironically, these are the same members of the Rainbow City Council who now say they won't declare the city as a sanctuary for AWOL deserters because it would be against federal law.

Day Labor Sites: Americans of All Ethnicities Aren't Big Fans

From Judicial Watch and Zogby

New Judicial Watch/Zogby Poll: Majority of Likely Voters - Including Hispanics - Want More Law Enforcement to Fight Illegal Immigration

71.5% Oppose Taxpayer Funded Day Labor Sites for Illegal Aliens;

Majority of Americans Oppose Sanctuary Policies for Illegal Aliens(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released the results of a nationwide poll conducted in partnership with Zogby International concerning the American people’s attitudes towards illegal immigration. Among the poll’s highlights of 1,211 likely voters, conducted October 16-19, 2008 (margin of error is +/- 2.9%):

  • 71.5% said they agree local law enforcement officers should enforce federal immigration laws, including 51.5% of Hispanics and 56.2% of self-described “liberals.”
  • 71.5% said they disagree public officials should use taxpayer funds to operate day laborer sites that help illegal immigrants, including 56.2% of Hispanics and 53.2% of self described “liberals.”
  • 57.1% said more law enforcement is needed to address the issue of illegal immigration while only 7.1% said they believe less law enforcement should be used. 34.7% of Hispanics support more law enforcement while 15.5% said less. Of self-described “liberals,” 39% said they support more law enforcement, while 13.2 percent said less.
  • 54.8% said they oppose “sanctuary policies” that help illegal aliens (39.3% “strongly” oppose) while 34.9% said they support such policies. 36.2% of Hispanics oppose “sanctuary policies.”

“This poll shows the American people, no matter their politics or ethnicity, want public officials to enforce federal immigration laws. It is difficult to find any political issue that inspires such unanimity,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “The presidential candidates and the media have virtually ignored the illegal immigration issue in this campaign but it remains an important issue to voters. And the message from the American people on immigration is clear: Enforce the law. End sanctuary policies. And stop using tax dollars to help illegal aliens find illegal jobs.”

Portland Public High School to Host Illegal Alien Apologist

I heard about this through an alert 5th Listener.
Here's the letter I sent to the teacher offering to bring the other side to the debate:

Dear Ms. XXXX,

I understand that the Voz organization plans to give a presentation about the need for a day labor site in Portland in your English classes on Wednesday. I have championed the efforts against such a city funded enterprise and would like the opportunity to present the other side of this issue in your classroom following Mr. Sosa’s presentation. I believe that if done in an even handed way, students will understand the difficulties governments have in balancing the needs of their own citizens while wanting to take care of people who need help. I look forward to a respectful exchange or separate presentation—your choice—with Mr. Sosa about this issue.

If you would like to talk to me in advance I would be happy to talk with you. You can email me back and we can set a time for a telephone conference.

Sincerely,

Victoria Taft

HOW CAN I HELP SHUT IT DOWN?

KEVIN

I would like to express my support in closing the Day Labor Center. No body is above the law.

I think that we should fire all of the politicians, and return to the day of citizen politicians. The actually worked for a living, and brought prosperity to the country, unlike those who currently pretend to work for their constituents. J

Portland City Council:
We the people call on you the city council to obey the laws of the United
States of America and actively work to find and deport "illegal aliens" and
"undocumented workers". And to stop spending our money to support and
harbor any one who breaks the laws of the land.

Please add my name to the growing list of supporters against this ridiculous
abuse of Tax-Payer Funds. I can not believe that even Portland will
countenance such disloyalty and disrespect for the rule of law.

It makes me wonder if the leadership in Portland even know what the laws of
this country are! Sad commentary on our local governments.

Ramona

From Doug

Folks:

I left a good job in the City! Working for the Man!

I left Northern California 3 weeks ago because I was tired of seeing 50-55% of my income being paid to the state and federal government and my services decreasing. I moved to Oregon, immediately lowering my sales tax, my property tax, and now that I am unemployed I am going to see how life on the government dole is! (kidding). I figure at least I can control my outflow, and because of economics the demographics has far fewer illegal non-American citizens living here. For all you dismissive, pandering, thoughtless "progressives" stop already with the racism or the xenophobic thoughts. I love immigrants that come to the country and add value. LOVE. Indians with engineering degrees, Iranians with MDs, Chinese with PhD's - please come! Marry my daughters! Unskilled labor with huge families? No thanks.

I wrote my local government in Los Altos/Mountain View about spending dollars for the "day workers". I was adamantly opposed to it and no one would listen. I refuse to hire non-Americans (come on, they are not illegal immigrants, they are squatters who have illegally occupied positions that would outrage any Union shop. The quasi socialist state that we have become will not tolerate this underground system. We need to employ American citizens. Jobs that Americans won't do? I will stick my head in a pail of poo for the right price!) Hence, lets call them what they are - non-Americans.

I am writing you, because you asked me to yesterday during your show. In California, our dropout rate in our high schools is 25%. It is almost all due to fantastic Latino occupancy of our schools and their ridiculous dropout rate. I can only hope that Oregonians will "go to school" on my experience and the Californian experience. Stop with the dismissive name calling - racist! Xenophobe! and put pencil to paper. The folks that think we should encourage the mass migration of unskilled labor and all of their children to the United States are deluded. I am not casting an insult, the data bears out the delusion. America will not become stronger by encouraging mass migration of unskilled labor and their families. My experience, not my hyperbole-soaked theory, witnessed the following:

My taxes became oppressive, while my schools and emergency rooms became intolerable. The insult to this injury is that in order to avoid the tragedy of the public school, you had to go private. Where we lived the going rate was $22,000 to $30,000 a year and rising at high single digits. I figured in 6 years my three kids would be each $50,000 a year. My property taxes were $25,000 a year for my very average home. That means, in 6 years, I would have to make $330,000 gross income just so my kids could go to junior high (the government gets paid first, folks). This is nucking futz! Last year, my two year old was being a monkey on the bed and bumped her head. It was a huge knot so we took her to ER at 9 pm to get her melon checked out. We waded through a sea of folks, none with any apparent breaks or bleeding, most with dark skin, black hair and construction boots and congestion. Now, I went to ER once for help with bronchitis because I could hardly swallow at 3 am and I got some anti-biotics that set me back $640 after insurance! These folks not only get the medical treatment for free (it will cost ER $50,000 penalty if they refuse treatment) but they also block health care for legitimate emergencies. If they want to pay the crazy price of ER, let it rip, but not for free!
Our schools in upper middle class Los Altos became over-ran with sudden ELL (English Language Learners) and the school district did everything in their power to obfuscate the truth and told the tax payers that we they were going to have to move their kids to different schools to re balance these ELL's (hmmmm, maybe ELL stands for Educating Lotsa Latinos!) Can you imagine? You pay more than TWO THOUSAND a month in property tax, of which 56% goes directly to the school, and the government tells you, "Thanks, but you can't go to the school next to the home you just bought. You need to drive your kid 4 miles to this other school." Oh, and by the way, we want you to donate more after tax dollars to the public schools.

And California is increasing both its sales and income tax 10%. Fewer services, more taxes.

Seriously folks, it is not worth getting your food served, your lawn cut, or your nails hammered for a 20 or even 50% reduction in wages. This is not sustainable. Do the net present value of my above scenario and it is non-trivial. $250,000 a year for 6 years is a net present value of a couple million dollars! For your grass or your food!! This is insane. This is the road to Hell. I was just driving on it and I can assure you that you do not want to get on it.

I am pleading with the Oregon authorities. You have knowledge of the California experience. With that knowledge comes responsibility. If you witness California and know why they are failing and you choose to follow the same path, the citizens should impeach you on grounds of gross incompetent recklessness. We have been forewarned. Dig in your heels folks.

By the way, I am not a Californian. I am an Oregonian, born in Oregon, educated by both Oregon secondary schools and Universities. Oregon needs to try very hard to not become California. I have been to the front, and as a scout, I am pleading to the citizens of Oregon to demand more from their leaders.

From Tom

Please do what is right and close the illegal day labor camp.
I am a 60 year old citizen of the US and object to the unlawful practice you are engaged in.
Tom

From Scott

As an American citizen I feel discriminated againist. I am a hard working tax paying citizen. I REFUSE to support a day labor center for workers who have entered my country illegally. They have the privelidge of working in MY country tax free. They are a burden to our society, as thier children are born in our hospitals, their families recieve free medical care, free meals in our schools, are not expected to speak our NATIONAL language ENGLISH, and have thier food and housing paid for through my hard work. The majority of these illegals do not appreciate the what our country has done for them and send some of the tax free money that they earn back home to thier families in their home land. I AM OUTRAGED that we grant these people special rights! As far as the jobs they do, I know a lot of AMERICAN CITEZENS that would pick our apples and berries and do the jobs which are thought to be only jobs illegal immagrants would do.

From Leslie

I'm in full agreement with Victoria Taff about the illegal jobs center that has been established for illegal aliens. I work with a number of alien workers and yes, they are wonderful people who work hard. There is no easy answer to the immigration issue this country is facing, but we must face it. The real crux of the matter is, we have laws in this country and they are for all citizens to obey. The City Counsel of Portland is not above the law and it is a slap in the face of every Portlander to take our hard earned money and spend it on something that is, in fact, illegal.

I'm getting extremely tired of hearing about the City Counsel and all the "great" ideas that time is being spent on instead of dealing with the basic needs of this city. That includes renaming streets, by the way. The Counsel is trying so hard to be creative and innovative and guess what? That is not what the citizens of Portland want. We want the city run in an effective, fiscally sound way. So please, stop doing things behind closed doors without citizen input, when it is called for.

Who am I? A life long Portlander with web feet and a lot of voting years left.

Leslie

From ED

strongly object to this illegal enterprise that has been established regardless of our laws and the use of our tax dollars to fund it. If this continues, you'll soon be drowning in more and more illegal aliens and we'll become another Los Angeles.
I want no further funding for this illegal Job Center.

Grover

From Brad

To whom it may concern: As a native Oregonian, I've been stunned by many of the activities the City of Portland has either initiated or participated in. I attribute much of it to the fact that so many people have come to Oregon from the East coast and California, bringing their twisted ideas with them and implementing them here. This is based on 40 years of observation; I include only my adult years in this 40, although I made many trips with my family to Portland prior to becoming an adult.
The function of any government is to serve the citizens; the function of a city government is to use funds provided by those citizens to maintain roads, water and sewer lines, and other public infrastructure. It is also charged with maintaining a police and fire department, which are also funded on the back of the citizens.
It seems that the city of Portland needs to be reminded of what their duties are, and that they are indeed 'public servants'. They are to function in accordance with the wishes of the citizens...not vice-versa. The max line and the tram are evidence that the 'public servants' at the city of Portland have little regard for what the citizens want.
Now, those professional public servants in Portland have crossed the line and are in violation of the law. Of course I refer to the 'day labor center' that the city has arranged and paid for at the citizens expense. The entire country is overwhelmed by illegal aliens crowding our schools, hospitals and public services intended for the citizens of this country. By their actions, the city of Portland is encouraging more illegal aliens to come to this State. My own feelings are that any city employee/official that voted in favor of this most recent fiasco should at the very least be terminated, and should also have legal charges brought against them.

From Carol

Victoria—I’ve been listening to you for quite a while now, and even though I don’t live in Portland, I know that what happens in Portland will soon come across the bridge to Vancouver.

I originally lived in the Yakima Valley and owned and operated orchards and vineyards with my husband. So I am well acquainted with the illegal alien issue. For many years, we had Mexican people working for us. Most of them were legally here, but occasionally I would find one that had bogus papers. I found out that these papers were being ‘made up’ in a small town north and east of Yakima and cost each individual about $35 (about 10 to 15 years ago).

My point is this. Once an illegal alien is in this country, it’s almost impossible to get them to go back to their country. That’s why I support a ‘guest worker program’. If an employer needs 20 workers to get the job done, then that employer should sponsor 20 workers for a certain period of time. When the job is done, they should be sent back home. I know this has been tried before. Since the federal government wants to get so involved, we could have ID Chips inserted in each guest worker. It should be inserted in the area that Mexican males seem to be most ‘proud of’ (near the ‘jewels’) and the chances of them being removed without medical attention would be limited. (who wants to dig around their own jewels?)

When the individual tries to sneak across the border back to the US, then that chip would send off a signal, and guess what? Back home you go, buddy!

One more comment. Why the heck do we need so many ‘foreigners’ to do the job that Americans citizens should and could be doing? I know how to hoe between the pepper plants, and I could teach others to do it in no time at all. Think of the suntan and fresh air we could get. And most of us could stand a little bending and squatting around our middles.

Carol

From Mary

Dear City Counsel,

I am sick and tired of hearing about Americans being killed by illegal aliens and our lovely city adding to the outrage.

The mother of seven being killed on MOTHER'S DAY was tragic. Seven children and a husband who will never have their mother and wife to experience their children's firsts - dates, proms, wedding and birth of grandchildren. The wife in San Fran who's husband and two sons were murdered by illegals in June. The father of two in Florida, last week killed by an illegal immigrate in front of his daughter at the Post Office. The list goes on and on and on and on and on. Every week I hear about a new travesty and YOU can do something to make a difference.

I am upset that you have made Portland a haven for illegals and the Day Labor site you opened is illegal. You are breaking the law !!!!

Illegals have personally and literally hit home. In January our son was driving home after visiting us late one evening. As he crossed the 205 on Glisan -east bound- he was hit by an illegal alien coming off the freeway full speed, running the light and caused over $8,000 worth of damage to his 2 month old car. We were fortunate he was not injured and there were 3 witnesses. The man was an uninsured motorist, spoke no English and the car was registered in Mexico. He was here illegally and our insurance company is having to absorb the costs as they try and recoup the money. GOOD LUCK !!! We are out our deductible and time dealing with the insurance company and repair shop.

I listen to Victoria Taft and KPAM among others. I am getting tired of Portland's City Counsel and the ways you break the law.

I am writing to let you know how my husband and I are tired of your illegal ways.

Please send me what I need to have my voice heard against the day

From David

  • Why is the city:
  • Subsidizing criminal activity with taxpayer funds

  • Encouraging and inducing illegal aliens to come to, enter, or reside in the US
  • Acting in reckless disregard that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of US law
  • Facilitating or aiding and abetting the illegal employment of undocumented aliens
  • Unlawfully allowing the hiring of individuals for employment without complying with federal employment eligibility verification requirements
  • Acting in defiance of state employment requirements
  • Giving government preference to companies or individuals that hire illegal aliens and others at the government day labor center and allowing them to ignore the law
Why the city has not been taken to court for this illegal activity is beyond me. The above dotted activities was prepared by Victoria Taft and I agree completely with her points she presented.

Sincerely:
David

From Charles

Sirs,
I am so tired of the high taxes!! And the monies for which they are intended being used for off the wall personal pet illegal activities. You, need some sort of touch of reality and common sense. If you like the way they do things in Europe, I understand jumping off a bridge is Eco and Politically accepted. Maybe, you should explore this for your next pet project. Again, with my taxes for your benefit, actually this could be for my benefit also.
Charles

From Nancy

Victoria-
I agree with you completely. Putting our taxpayer's money into opening and maintaining that SCAM is ridiculous.
Actually, besides the actual ILLEGALS, we need to put the major and the entire city council in jail and keep them there.
I am going to write to JUDICIAL WATCH and have Portland be next on their list- - - to shut down another ILLEGAL day labor site. They just did it in Phoenix, so we're next.
Thanks for all of your hard work, we (I) would be a lost taxpayer without you and a few others
Thanks again,

To whom it may concern,

First let me start with how mad it makes me to know that we work so hard to get ahead in life and take care of our family, and that the city of Portland and the people who say they think in our best interest are selling us out to illegal actions as this day labor center. Let me also state that I am a American Mexican and do have family that are from Mexico. But thankfully did do the right thing and became legal before they made their stay here in the states. I also have family here who are here illegally and to this day still give them a hard time and no respect from me for being here.

I am stating right now and will till the day you stop this illegal act in which I am paying for with my tax money.

STOP AND CLOSE DOWN THIS CENTER FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NO RIGHT TO WORK HERE, WHY GIVE THEM A HAND OUT WHEN THE MAJORITY OF THEM HAVE NO REGARDS FOR OUR COUNTRY AND LAWS, BY YOU LETTING THIS HAPPEN IS GIVING THEM THE OK ON BE HERE IN AMERICA AND CRAPPING ON US WHEN EVER THEY WANT. STOP THIS ILLEGAL DOING AND DO WHAT IT RIGHT AND BECOME TRUE AMERICANS AND HELP OUR OWN. THEN MAYBE I CAN SAY YOU ARE DOING YOUR JOB EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE A BUNCH OF LEFT WINGED MULE HERDERS.

Respectfully a true Republican American

Alejandro

To the city counsel,
I as a 50 year citizen of Portland. I was very proud of my city for almost all of these years. And still am in many ways. We are a fine city.
Except for the resent actions that you all have thrust on to us whether we want it or not. Wether we agree or not. Even when we vote NO on issues. You do as you think best.
Mr. Potter, you actively and knowingly breaking the law. You are adding and abetting illegal immigrants. It has been proven within last few days that the Day labor center is helping criminals get work here. Mr. Nine Different Names is proof that this center is not only illegal but that they are harboring violent criminals. And you Mr. Potter and the rest of your counsel members. Are supporting this activity.
I , Scott, a native of Portland and of Oregon. DEMAND! That you cease and desist this illegal action you are have supported. I DEMAND!! That you stop using my hard earned tax dollars on this illegal activity.
You have forced us all to be a party in this illegal activity! I DEMAND THAT YOU STOP NOW!

How wonderful! A Day Labor Center for illegal alliens. Almost makes me all teary eyed. But the truth of the matter is, are your people nuts!? Who gave you the right, and what gives you the right to spend $200.000 of tax payers money to build this damn thing? The absolute arrogance of Tom Potter and the rest of the left wing loonies that authorized this without a vote of the citizens of Portland just blows me away! You Marxist, pompous bastards! Knock it off!

Mr Mayor
How many more citizens of this city, county and state must die at the hands of people here ILLEGALLY? In the news again today yet another illegal alien was found guilty of KILLING a mother of seven. Leonel Zurita-Loeza, 26. We must also remember Dani Countryman a 15 year old girl murdered by ILLEGAL aliens Alejandro Emeterio Rivera-Gamboa and his cousin, Gilberto Javier Arellano-Gamboa. The list gets longer each day. You are aiding and abetting just this type of action with your ILLEGAL DAY LABOR CENTER! STOP BREAKING THE LAW! You have sworn to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States of America.

Stop breaking the law. Stop using taxpayer money to break the law. Stop allowing illegal immigrants to bring down the wages and working conditions of the American worker. Stop assaults by illegal immegrants on U.S. citizens excercising their constitutional right to protest. We will be keeping an eye on the illegal alien day labor center, and we have the right to do so. Thank you.

From Bennett

Hi, my name is Bennett and this job center is just another example of how NOT to run a city!! I wish ICE would camp on the doorstep and take them away, and at the same time fine the employers who are taking jobs away from legal Americans. Not to mention, about who the heck are you really hiring, maybe a guy who is a baby raper in Mexico. But for sure the aiding and abedding was my first thought way back. AND IF YOUR GONNA BUILD A BRIDGE, DONT MESS AROUND WITH ALL THIS BICYCLE STUFF FIRST, MAKE THAT PART LAST ALONG WITH MAX. CARS COME FIRST!!! 8 TO 10 LANES OR DONT BOTHER!!
thank you I feel better now
ps I have nothing against foreigners, just come here the proper way.

From Matthew and Sarita

To whom it may concern with the City of Portland,
I am in the military and my wife and I have recently moved to Portland. At my previous duty station in Puerto Rico, I put my life on the line to protect the shores from illegal migrants entering Puerto Rico via the Mona Passage, one of the most treacherous bodies of water in the world. in addition, hundreds of my fellow federal & local law enforcement agents in the Customs & Border Protection and the local police did the same. Upon arrival in Portland I find that the City uses its tax revenue from the citizens to promote a day labor center with no regard to citizenship in ou r country. My wife and I find this appalling and unacceptable. The city officials responsible for this must stop this illegal activity immediately, not only because it defies our Constitution but belittles the men and women in uniform that swear to protect our country from terrorists.

My wife and I are both with you 101%, Victoria. Let us know what we can do to help. I’m willing to go over once a week and take pictures that we could post online somewhere!

Best, David

I vote to get rid of it. Our city is breaking the law with no questions asked policies that have implemented. Send the illegal immigrants home.

Victoria and crew,
Please add myself and my husband to the list of people who want to call upon the City of Portland to cease using taxpayer funds in this illegal enterprise and further call on the City to cease its aiding and abetting people who broke the law to get into and stay in this country and in the City of Portland.
Thanks for doing what is right. (Hopefully they will listen to those who are paying the bills!)

From RC and CK

We, the undersigned, call on the City of Portland to cease using taxpayer funds in this illegal enterprise and further call on the City to cease its aiding and abetting people who broke the law to get into and stay in this country and in the City of Portland.

I am a native Oregonian, retired from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve after 21 years of service in both the active and reserve components. I currently am employed at the PSU Bookstore and essentially forced to use mass transit due to the cost of parking downtown.

Thank you for heading this valiant effort.

Sincerely,

Harold

Mayor Potter,
You will probably remember me as I worked as an officer and a Detective at the Portland Police Bureau during the time you were still there as well as when you were chief. I had come to admire you through the years as you were always fair and you had the guts to stand up for the bureau even though some of the communities as well as the Mayor's office were ready to dismantle the bureau. Toward the end of your career at the bureau, I started to see a change in you which put political correctness ahead of what I and hundreds of other officers had come to believe was a man with strong ethics.
What happened ? I now see you as a man haunted by his own demons. But instead of doing your battle in private you are battling the good, hard working people in Portland. The Tom Potter I knew would have NEVER DONE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE WHILE YOU ARE MAYOR. How can you justify the evil you are perpetuating? You are thumbing your nose at the law abiding citizens of Oregon but erecting and supporting an ILLEGAL WORK CENTER. You are thumbing your nose at the hard working honest men and women who work as police officers for Portland by forcing them to ignore the illegal behavior of people who have no right to be here. Approximately 8000 AMERICANS are killed by illegals EVERY year either by drunk driving or other assualts. I want to see you look into the eyes of the family members who have lost a mother, father or child to an illegal and explain how you are right to provide sanctuary to these people. I am ashamed of you. Deb

Victoria,

I am not a City of Portland resident, but I’d like to contribute my voice to this blatant disregard for state and federal law, blatant disregard for the will of the citizenry of the city, and blatant disregard for appropriate use of tax payer monies that is this work center for illegal aliens.

I live in Washington Co. but I worked Downtown for 10.5 years, so I’ve spent my time in the city. City of Portland is a beautiful city with many wonderful attributes, but the so-called “leadership” of Portland City Council is such an atrocious detriment to the city. If Portland is the nose, then Portland City Council is the big, honkin’ zit on it that makes you just stare in horror and disbelief. The mayor and other council members are insidious and utterly self-serving. In other times, they would have long ago been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail…

For the Portland City Council to say or infer that the work center is not specifically designed to give work to illegal aliens is an example of how much disdain and disregard they have for the citizens of Portland and the Metro Area.

How reprobates like Mayor Tom Potter, Mayor-elect Sam Adams, Council Members Randy Leonard and Dan Salzman, and previous Council Member Eric Sten could ever get elected shows how completely oblivious liberals are…and what total lemmings they tend to be.

Portland City Council is running it’s own Tammany Hall, and every single one of those council members should be brought up on charges under the Rico Statutes or any other means regarding their complete disregard for state and federal laws.

As the degradation of our laws, our language, our culture and our way of life are on full display in the city of Portland, I can only scratch my head and ponder how long it will be before chaos reigns in the rose city. Ah....yes....where right is wrong and wrong is right. Where law abiding, hard working Americans are run out of town on a rail, it only make sense that illegal aliens can flaunt their illegalness and be embraced by the likes of Comrade Potter, Comrade Adams and Comrade Randy. As the goose-stepping comrades of the left ponder and puzzle to themselves the rightness of our laws and decide which laws they feel like enforcing and which laws they wish to ignore. As they decide what foods we should be allowed to eat or what cars we can drive, or how much labor they can steal from hard working Americans, I am reminded of a line from Batman Begins.... "Gotham, the city of injustice" can easily be replaced by "Portland, the city of injustice".

The comrades from the city of injustice only know how to tear down and destroy that to which they wouldn't have a clue how to build. I believe these people to be the robber barons of today as they prey on their fellow citizens. While probably the most incompetent people in the world, they are also the most dangerous because they are more than willing to steal the freedom and liberty from the people of Portland in the wink of an eye, at the drop of a hat or a beat of the heart.

When our laws don’t apply to all of the people all of the time.....ultimately, they will apply to none of the people.

Great minds and great men who believed in freedom and liberty created this country. Small minds and small men are tearing it down.

Disgusted in the sanctuary state of Oregon,

Winnie
